Patton comes up with a reasonably priced eSBC for SoHos and SMEs and offers 4 to 30 concurrent SIP sessions. The SmartNode SN500 by Patton has the Patton Cloud edge-orchestration service.

Based out of the US, Patton Electronics, producer of the well-known SmartNode VoIP solutions, introduces the brand-new and extremely low-cost SmartNode SN500 enterprise session border controller (eSBC), especially for small-office/home-office setup (SoHo) and SME (small to medium enterprise). The company speculates to start shipping during October 2020. However, the pre-order of the product is open now.

Patton’s new eSBC is the pilot and one of its kind; it is designed for the SME and SoHo markets.

Buddy Oliver, VP Product Management, Patton, mentions, “We are excited to offer the industry’s first entry-level session border controller. As a SmartNode, the SN500 is cloud-powered, so it brings with it a host of valuable management tools and network edge orchestration features.”

More about eSBC

Moderately priced for SMEs and SoHos, the eSBC provides 4 to 30 concurrent sessions-initiation-protocol or (SIP) sessions. The SN500 also offers network protection and protocol normalization for enterprise-class ALL-IP voice-and-data communication systems.

Buddy Oliver, VP Business Development at Patton, said, “Now the little guys can finally afford to join the ALL-IP party.” He added, “without overpaying for a secure demarc solution.”

The SN500 enables SoHos and SMEs interested in implementing cloud-based communication services in the form of SIP trunking, UC (unified communications), or hosted PBX that can deal with complex security, service-quality, and interoperability issues that come with ALL-IP deployments. With the new SN500, all this can happen without paying enterprise-level prices for a highly-priced eSBC.

Installed at the customer location, the low-cost SN500 delivers a clear network separation or demarc point between LAN (subscriber) and WAN (service provider).

To this, Mr. Oliver adds, “We are excited to offer the industry’s first entry-level session border controller. As a SmartNode, the SN500 is cloud powered, so it brings with it a host of valuable management tools and network edge orchestration features.”

SmartNode SN500 UCaaS – Unified Communications as a Service Application

In combination with the Patton Cloud, the eSBC observes SIP traffic and call quality. And when the call-quality drops, it triggers an email or SMS notification.

Additionally, by leveraging the power of eSBC, remote endpoints such as terminals, phones, computers, and more can be effortlessly monitored and managed by Patton Cloud.

SmartNode SN500 SIP Trunking Application

Basis a recent news report, SmartNode eSBC solutions recently went through a test for interoperability and qualified for interoperability and deployment with SIP services from Deutsche Telekom along with CompanyFlex and DeutschlandLAND SIP Trunk offerings.
